The motel is quite a big Tom Cruise fan. I think it runs in the family because my mother, for all of her pickiness, chooses him as her celebrity crush. Now it looks like I have somewhat followed suit. If I ever do miraculously meet him, I’d ask him to give my mother a ride on the back of his motorcycle.
Sure, this guy isn’t a perfect person. He definitely has his issues and flaws. Regardless, one must admit that his resume is quite impeccable. He has an incredibly broad range of movies, from drama, romance, to legal, to action and espionage. Find another actor who has done all that he has done, I dare you!
His passion and work ethic is unmatched, and it clearly shows through his nearly five decades of work. He is truly one (if not the) greatest movie stars of our time.
When fall comes, I find myself gravitating towards two Cruise movies that have both received notable acclaim. Though, it might be some of his more unknown work compared to what modern day moviegoers are familiar with. As a Cruise fan, I believe it is my duty to share the love, and today I present to you two Cruise movies for the fall season!

A Few Good Men (1992)
Before he was climbing buildings, falling out of the sky, and doing motorcycle jumps off a cliff, Cruise had found a successful nook in the drama genre during his work in the late 80’s going into the 90’s. Rain Man, Born on the Fourth of July, and Jerry Maguire, just to name a few, had all won him big brownie points in the movie industry. A Few Good Men, released in 1992, was no exception.
A star-studded cast including Jack Nicholson, Demi Moore, and Kevin Bacon accompany Cruise as Lieutenant Daniel Kaffee, a military lawyer defending two U.S. Marines charged with murder.
My favorite scenes are when Cruise’s character hits the books in his D.C. apartment, where he claims to only have Yoohoos and Cocoa Puffs in his fridge. The ambiance throughout this movie is quite autumnal, with leaves falling in certain scenes and the overall coloring is full of warm browns.

The Firm (1993)
Can you believe that once upon a time, Tom Cruise had starred in a legal thriller? And a pretty damn good one at that. The motel used to love thrillers in her youth but to be honest, there are only so many twists and turns one can watch before it gets a bit old. Movies shouldn’t be a source of adrenaline rush, which thrillers suddenly seemed to feel for me. So now I’m a bit more picky about the thrillers I choose to watch.
Despite that, the fall ambiance here is at full speed. Full of suits, briefcases, libraries, and legal jargon, The Firm is strangely cozy, yet chilling, an oxymoron that is actually quite rare if you think about it.
BONUS: Interview With a Vampire (1994)

Another 90’s Cruise movie, woohoo! He was really killing it this decade. I wasn’t sure whether or not I should save this for another post but how can I resist? Not only does Cruise have movies for fall but more specifically, he even has a movie for Halloween! This man’s resume is insane, I tell you.
Starring alongside Brad Pitt, this movie is everything a Halloween enthusiast could ever ask for: vampires, sin, betrayal, redemption, spookiness, Cruise and Pitt together in one movie, and everything in between.
