TV: a hot disney channel summer

It’s interesting how y2k has been experiencing quite the comeback lately. Though, maybe it’s not so interesting since trends have a knack for coming back around anyway. But I have to say, I’m quite thankful to have grown up during the glory y2k days of Disney Channel. It’s starting to get quite hot where I am, but since I am a working adult, I unfortunately do not have the luxury of going to the beach any morning I want.

So on the days where I get home from a hard day’s work, but still want to savor the glory days of a y2k disney channel summer, this is the stuff I turn to.

Johnny Kapahala: Back on Board

Oh, to be on Island Time. Set in Oahu, Hawaii, Johnny is back in town dealing with not only his grandpa’s wedding, but also his new uncle-to-be: a bratty 12-year-old kid! A true Disney Channel classic. If you know, you know.

HSMTMTS: Season 3

Not exactly y2k, but this twist on HSM meets Camp Rock, season 3 sans Olivia Rodrigo is actually a motel favorite. The crew ventures out of the confines of East High to Camp Shallow Lake for the summer. A special visit by Corbin Bleu, camp romances, rivalries, and a classic musical, make this the ultimate summer watch!

The Cheetah Girls 2

Once upon a time, Disney Channel really had a knack for killer sequels, didn’t they? If you’re looking for a European summer getaway, this movie hits all the right spots. “Strut” to the iconic songs, stunning Barcelona backdrop, and good old fashioned cheetahlicious drama. Now, where’s a Luke when you need one?

BONUS: High School Musical 2

Hard to not mention Disney Channel summer classics without this one. Troy and Gabriella’s “Gotta Go My Own Way” broke my 12-year-old heart. Though as an adult, I’m kind of shipping Chad and Sharpay. They could’ve been the enemies to lovers couple we all crave and need. Just me? Okay.

I have a friend who laments a little too much about how she didn’t have cable growing up. The optimist within me thinks she can always make up for lost time. A single Disney plus subscription is all it takes these days.
