TV: Christmas “Hallmark” Romances

It’s a shame, really.

Christmas romance movies, sometimes even cohesively referred to as “Hallmark” movies, are known to have a bad reputation. I will admit, these movies aren’t not going to be Oscar-winning performances, but maybe they will be to you. There are many a good apple in the basket worth being tasted and today, the motel has put together her absolute favorites! These movies are uplifting, hopeful, and many boast amazing, stunning holiday sets and ambiances and sometimes, that is all you need.

A Christmas Prince

The royals meets Christmas! I personally just adore the main character in this one. She’s resilient, yet fun, bright, and optimistic. Her and the male lead have fantastic chemistry, and the side characters are just as charming. The ambiance is full of royalness mixed with some cozy holiday spirit. This Netflix trilogy did surprisingly well during its run. I prefer the first movie most, but all three are worth the watch if you’re really craving that holiday loving feeling.

A Christmas Inheritance

Honestly, this one is not too bad. The main character is actually very likable: an ambitious heiress trying to do the right thing for her father’s business during Christmastime. She visits the small town her father’s business started in, stranded at the town inn during a snowstorm, and of course, discovers the true gift of Christmas. It’s a classic in the best way possible.

Desperately Seeking Santa

Another pair of leads oozing with chemistry! Don’t you love it when that happens? The main female lead is a young, ambitious executive, eager to climb the corporate ladder by saving a failing mall. She comes up with an idea: a “Sexy Santa” pageant.

Yes, I will leave it there.

Falling for Christmas

Of course I have to support my girl Lindsay Lohan! I will love whatever she does. Full of plaid, coziness, and twinkling Christmas lights, Lindsay’s charm is still stronger than ever.

Christmas at the Drive-In

A classic all-around-feel-good Christmas movie! Two estranged childhood sweethearts meet again as adults and reunite to save a historic failing drive-in movie theater, all the while rekindling what they’d lost years ago.

Snowed Inn Christmas

I’ll let you in on a little secret: I absolutely under no circumstances can watch a romance movie without feeling the chemistry from the two main leads. It doesn’t matter how good looking they are or how much I like them. I need to feel it. And in addition to all of those mentioned above, this one fulfills the quota.

Two rival co-workers somehow find themselves in Santa Claus, Indiana during the holiday weekend. With nowhere to go and a promotion on the line, the pair will find out they have more in common than they think.

What’s your favorite classic Christmas romance scene? I’m a sucker for any scene involving a romantic night walk out on the small town. Walking step by step, under the twinkling lights, huddled in scarves and beanies, wondering if the other person feels it too. Maybe some carolers singing in the distance. Snow is a must, and sometimes it starts falling at the exact right time, if you know what I mean.
