Notorious crooks. A power couple at its finest. A tale as old as time.
There’s something intriguing about the idea of a power couple. Two people who are both independent, determined, with their own thoughts, opinions, and agendas. Yet, they are both still yearning for something that could only be found in their other half. The other person doesn’t just complete them – they make them reach their highest, fullest self. Which is, I must say, all we could ever ask of love.
Truth be told, we actually don’t see many duos like Bonnie and Clyde these days in books and movies, which is a shame because they’ve remained a fascination for decades now. Media and books like to portray a stereotypical dynamic: good girl meets bad boy. A typical story in its own right, but why not present a challenge? What happens when they’re both bad?

Probably the best portrayal of Bonnie and Clyde is the 1967 film starring Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway. The actors, costumes, and production really make it all worthwhile. Granted, Bonnie and Clyde were not this exceptionally attractive in real life, but similar to my Cleopatra post, I believe they would’ve more than loved to see themselves being portrayed as two attractive crooks in such a visually pleasing film.

On another note, I hope Hollywood starts playing around with different character dynamics again. Once upon a time, there was variety in the stories being told versus what they think the audience wants to see. The truth is, they just need to take a risk and start telling us what we should be seeing for a change.
