I was having lunch with my Work Uncle the other day and we were discussing the sheer beauty of See’s Candies.
“It’s fancy enough to give as gifts,” he was saying. “But not overly fancy. There’s still a sense of humbleness to them.”
I concurred, and he went on to say a bunch of other stuff I’d forgotten about. All I remembered was it was true, and that he’d taken the words right out of my mouth.
I take advantage of how many See’s Candies are around me. My Work Uncle mentioned how his relatives in Missouri (or was it Minnesota?) don’t even have a See’s Candies where they live, and instead settle on the likes of Russel Stover’s. I then discovered that See’s Candies mainly operate west of the Rocky Mountains, which gave me another thing to be grateful for that day.
Not to mention, they’re delicious! So much that Warren Buffet even bought it. The franchise has definitely stayed true to their original recipes and it shows. The fanciest chocolatiers can scream and shout all they want, but at the end of the day my heart still belongs to See’s Candies. “This is nice,” I would say, staring down at an exquisite piece of chocolate that boasts to be from Belgium. “But nothing still beats See’s.”
