This year my sister insisted that we put up the Christmas tree on the first week of November. We’re big fans of the holidays and my dad, ever so diligent, abided to her wishes. He promptly pulled out our trustee plastic Christmas tree from the garage and we’ve had it up since.
But now, the holiday season is officially upon us, and here are the motel’s top 3 holiday movie picks!

I’ll Be Home for Christmas
Anybody else love a good ENTP main character? I find that I gravitate towards them a lot, their smart aleck ways are always so fun to watch. It’s even more fun to watch them wiggle their way out of trouble when their big ego and babbling mouth bites them in the butt.
This movie stars a teenage Jonathan Taylor Thomas at his prime as a guy named Jake who can seemingly talk his way in and out of everything. He’s selfish and distant from his father’s new marriage. Though, his father desperately wishes for him to come spend Christmas with the family, which ensues the bet: come home for Christmas, and he’ll get the Porsche.
Seems easy enough, but Jake has made his fair share of enemies and they will stop at nothing to prevent him from getting back home. Oh, and one of them also wants to steal his girlfriend, who is played by the beautiful Jessica Biel. It’s definitely a joy to watch, and JTT’s sarcastic, conniving character (with a heart of course) will surely make you laugh a ton! This is also one of my dad’s favorite movies, it used to play on CBS or whatever every year when I was a kid and he’d always get so excited watching it.

Just Friends
Netflix and Hallmark can churn out all the romcom Christmas movies they want, but none will ever compare to Ryan Reynold’s Just Friends. The movie stars Reynolds as a chubby high school nerd turned hottie, who returns to his hometown one Christmas year. As fate would have it, he runs into his old high school crush. Reconciled and now a total hunk, he strives to play her the way she played him but of course, it is never that simple.

Home Alone
The holiday season wouldn’t be what it is without the presence of Macaulay Culkin in the 1990 blockbuster, Home Alone. I actually didn’t see this movie until high school, and instantly fell in love with the mischievous, conniving Kevin McCallister (as you can see, I love mischievous characters). Wasn’t Culkin seriously the cutest little kid?
Since we were also on the topic of MBTI’s, my ENTJ is also highly amused, yet fascinated by the strategic pranks that Kevin pulls on the bandits.
I also can’t help but admire Kevin’s incredible cozy outfit choices, which included matching plaid pajamas, fuzzy moccasin slippers, and the perfect, well-fitting fisherman’s sweater.
Home Alone 2 also wouldn’t be a bad choice. The New York City scenery brings a different sense of coziness and warmth that is equally suitable for the holidays.
