TV: Murder, She Wrote

As you will soon find out on this blog or, if you haven’t caught on already, I am a big cozy mystery fan. Emphasis on cozy because I don’t want to scare myself too much before I go to sleep every night! I’ve been a fan of the mystery genre since childhood, and had even won some writing awards in elementary school for my very juvenile mystery stories. I like to think this interest of mine, stemming from such an early age, has to have been a direct result of my Scorpio sun sign. Seriously.

The Case of The Stolen Blah Blah eventually turned into Murder Mysteries which may or may not be a bad thing. Why do people have to get killed all the time? It makes me break into a sweat in the late nights.

Regardless, whereas my peers fancy the likes of Sherlock Holmes, I fawn over Angela Lansbury as Jessica Fletcher in the Murder, She Wrote TV series.

There’s a reason why this show ran on for 12 seasons. It’s damn good! Angela Lansbury’s portrayal of the widowed detective is incredibly charming. Do not be fooled by her senile exterior, Jessica Fletcher is a mad powerhouse. During times where my patience was questioned, I would stop and think: what would Jessica Fletcher do? And it has definitely helped me in my times of need.

Because Jessica Fletcher wouldn’t succumb to pettiness. She wouldn’t take rudeness personally. But she’s not a pushover either. She stands up for what she believes in, but not with hostility and snobbiness. She’s sophisticated and poised. Graceful and overall, a sensational person that we should all aspire to be! They don’t make characters like her on TV anymore.
